it was actually yesterday but I’ve been pretty sick for the past couple of days, so i hope you will forgive the delayed post. Yes, I’ve been sickly - fever, aches, the whole kit and kaboodle. I just need to accept the fact that, post cancer, I get sick after every time I travel. Greeeat. Thaanks!
So, back to my brief post about my Lumpaversary. I can’t emphasize enough the importance of self exams. i did them regularly (possibly obsessively) and I never felt anything. When I found the lump, i wasn’t even doing an exam. I had been having some pain and I mistakenly thought it was due to an ill fitting bra so I was checking to see if the wire was rubbing or something. As you know by now, it wasn’t a wire…or an ill-fitting bra. It was a lump the size of a ping pong ball. Follow the standard directions for your self exam but change things up from time to time. I found my lump while lying on my side. Not the standard position for an exam. I truly believe that if I hadn’t been in that position, i wouldn’t have felt the lump. Like I said, I checked regularly and never felt anything.
Take the time to do your self checks, get your mammogram, and take control of your health.
Love to all,
Andee
